Practical impacts of astrological cycles

When I did a lot of tarot readings, I used to find they came in waves, not evenly dispersed in time. Often a new moon or full moon would trigger them, especially in certain signs. Other planetary conjunctions, or events in the world, could also trigger fear and anxiety. And then there are the times of year when people typically take stock of their lives and often had readings done – solstice, New Year, birthdays, and interestingly enough, the end of summer (early September).

Now I’m intrigued by similar waves of work in a less fun area – divorce mediations. This is something I do as a sideline to environmental mediations, because I’m trained for it and there’s no-one else in this area that offers it. In the last two days I’ve had a rash of requests for divorce mediations – and they want it now, not later. Looking at my handy lunabar, I see that it’s a waning moon in Gemini. Perhaps something about self-other came to a head recently and it’s time to let go? Interesting to speculate – any other ideas?

  1. hi, Teresa … Given the Cardinal Cross energy in the sky, and that this is a waning Moon as well as a Gemini one, my Moon blog recently has been talking about releasing things from our lives that no longer serve our highest need. Today’s post for Gemini mentions feeling an urge to talk about our experiences, in the context of releasing and letting go … so seeing your post here is fascinating!

  3. We have to give partners credit. In that August period, when Venus and Mars traveled together in Libra, much work was devoted to relationship. How can we keep the spark alive, how can we treat one another with fairness & civility, how can we together meet our independent respective needs? Who ought to give what and how much is equable to take? All of this was the run-up to the following two months when this pairing of Venus & Mars entered Scorpio of complications and bedroom activity where Venus would eventually back off~no mas! It was interesting to watch so many couples experience all of this and yes, hindsight is 20/20.

  4. Someone help! I am fairly new to the tarot world but i love it and feel very strongly about it. However i have a lot to learn. For example i have no idea how to tie astrology or the moon phases into my tarot. Where do i start? If someone is feeling generous enough to share theor expertise or advise i would be appreciative.

    • Hi Rebecca,
Try looking in some of the resource materials – that should help get you started. Under the Page titled “Original Tarot Spreads” there are some lunar and astrologically oriented ones. Also, under “Books in Progress” there are a number of chapters from a book underway linking tarot and astrology that you may find useful.

A more technical book would be Liz Hazel’s “Tarot Decoded” and I believe Corinne Kenner is also working on a more beginning book, but hers is not yet ready to be published.

  5. Thank you so much, I will get started right away. I also quoted some of your information regarding basic tarot uses and the rules for the game in my research paper I wrote. Do not worry I gave you full credit and recommended your website.
I believe I am really good with my beginner set, but it does not have the traditional cards so now trying to learn the differences in all the cards is very difficult. If you have any other tips you think might be helpful I would greatly appreciate it.

  7. Astrology consists of a number of belief systems which hold that there is a relationship between astronomical phenomena and events in the human world. In the West, astrology most often consists of a system of horoscopes that claim to explain aspects of a person’s personality and predict future events in their life based on the positions of the sun, moon, and other planetary objects at the time of their birth. Many cultures have attached importance to astronomical events, and the Indians, Chinese, and Mayans developed elaborate systems for predicting terrestrial events from celestial observations.,
